Continuing Education Credits
Continuing education (CE) credit for the 2017 Charleston Child Trauma Conference is awarded on a session-by-session basis, with full attendance required for the sessions attended. The conference offers up to 18.5 contact hours, including 3.5 contact hours for the Pre-Conference Clinical Workshop. Partial session credit is not offered. CE processing fee for all disciplines is $35.00 which may be paid with registration or on-site.
Instructions for Obtaining Credit: Conference attendees who wish to receive continuing education credit MUST check in at Registration/Information desk to verify payment and to receive continuing education materials. Evaluations must be completed for each session attended and turned in at the end of the conference. Certificates will be emailed within 30 days of the conference.

Continuing Education Approvals
Counseling: The Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center has been approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6817. A total of 17 NBCC hours are approved for counselors. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Dee Norton is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
Law Enforcement: Continuing Law Enforcement Education (CLEE) is approved through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy for up to 18.5 hours (Course #5524). Law Enforcement professionals should check with their state POST to determine if this program meets continuing education standards in their state.
Legal: Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) through the Supreme Court of South Carolina Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization has been approved for attorneys for up to 15 CLE credits. Attorneys are responsible for determining whether CLE hours approved by the Supreme Court of South Carolina are accepted by their State Bar for CLE credit. Please note, Pre-Conference Clinical Workshop is not available for CLE credit.
Nurses and Nurse Practitioners: Sessions are approved for a maximum of 18.5 contact hours per the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Continuing Education Guidelines. Continuing education credit is being furnished by the SC Chapter of NAPNAP. To obtain the maximum contact hours available all sessions must be attended. Sessions eligible for credit are noted within the conference program.
Physicians: The Medical University of South Carolina designates this live activity for a maximum of 18.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Medical University of South Carolina and the Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center. The Medical University of South Carolina is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
In accordance with the ACCME Essentials and Standards, anyone involved in planning or presenting this educational activity will disclose any relevant financial relationships with commercial interests in the healthcare industry. This information will be made available to participants at the beginning of the activity. Speakers who incorporate information about off-label or investigational use of drugs or devices will be asked to disclose that information at the beginning of their presentation.
Psychology: The Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Dee Norton maintains responsibility for this program and its content. A total of 17 CE Credits are approved for psychologists.
Social Work: The Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center, #1463, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. The Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 7/22/2016 – 7/22/2017. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits. Social workers participating in this course will receive up to 18.5 continuing education clock hours. ASWB approval for the fall of 2017 is pending.
Victim Service Providers: Victim Service Provider credit is approved through the South Carolina Office of Victim Services Education and Certification for up to 18.5 credit hours.
